Tjark Aldeborgh

Broker / Realtor

Tjark has been active in the marketing, communications and advertising industry throughout his professional career.

He began his career in New York City working in the computer graphics industry managing the production services for the metro New York City region, and eventually the entire country. It was this point that he realized his love of the small town lifestyle.

This led to a move to Vermont where he founded an advertising agency which he ran for 15 years. His entrepreneurial urge led him to launch Vermont Recreation Magazine, a statewide publication focusing on sports and fitness. It was during this endeavor that the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST), a 45,000-member non-profit recreation association, tapped him to manage their communication/public relation’s efforts.

In 2007, he joined the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce as Director of Communications where he provided marketing, web and communications leadership for the organization and its partner organizations – The Vermont Hospitality Council, Vermont Attractions Association, Vermont Business Expo and Vermont Farms Association.

As a life-long Vineyard summer resident, he had the opportunity to move to the Island full-time in 2009 to assist his aging parents. He founded Homes on Martha’s Vineyard (HMV), a full-service real estate sales and rental and property management firm with Susan Cahoon. While managing HMV for the past 8 ears, he has developed a keen understanding of the MV real estate market, which he uses to assist his client’s find and sell properties.

When Susan decided to move off the Island to pursue an opportunity in Santa Fe, NM, Tjark began discussions with Skip and Joan about joining their agency. The summer of 2017 seemed to be the right time to join Martha's Vineyard Real Estate, (MVYRE). He is excited to join MVYRE as a Broker, which will only strengthen the agency’s ability to provide superior service to their clients.

When not helping people with their real estate needs, he enjoys working on the never-ending renovation of his 1840 farmhouse in Katama. He is an avid skier, tennis player and somewhat of a computer nerd. He also gets in trouble by watching too much HGTV. Tjark lives on Herring Creek Farm in Katama with his wife, 3 children, 4 cats, 1 dog, 2 horses and 6 barn cats.
